Generation VII
Best Team for Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu
Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu is a Switch reimagining of Kanto with Pokémon GO-style catching mechanics and two-player co-op. Pikachu is your partner and cannot evolve, but it gains powerful exclusive partner moves.
Recommended Team
Pikachu
Electric — Partner (Cannot Evolve)
Your partner Pikachu learns Zippy Zap (priority Electric), Splishy Splash (Water), and Floaty Fall (Flying) — exclusive moves that make it a surprisingly versatile attacker.
Charizard
Fire / Flying — Powerhouse
Charmander is available as a gift in Cerulean City (speak to a trainer in the northern house); Charizard handles Grass, Bug, Ice, and Steel types throughout Kanto.
Lapras
Water / Ice — Surf User + Ice Coverage
Gift from Silph Co. after clearing Team Rocket; Lapras's Surf, Ice Beam, and Blizzard handle Dragon types in the late game and provide the team's Water HM.
Nidoking
Poison / Ground — Earthquake User
Nidoran♂ on Route 22 + Moon Stone from Mt. Moon; Nidoking's Earthquake and Ground coverage handles the Rock and Electric types that threaten the rest of the team.
Arcanine
Fire — Let's Go Pikachu Exclusive
Growlithe is exclusive to Let's Go Pikachu (not Eevee); use a Fire Stone found at the Celadon Dept. Store to evolve it into Arcanine, the strongest Fire type in the game.
Snorlax
Normal — Bulk Attacker
Two Snorlax block Routes 12 and 16; use the Poké Flute from Mr. Fuji to wake them; Snorlax's massive HP and Body Slam with Natural Cure make it the team's reliable anchor.
Tips & Notes
- →
Pikachu cannot evolve in Let's Go Pikachu — its partner exclusive moves are available only on the unevolved form, making it better than Raichu for in-game purposes.
- →
Growlithe is Let's Go Pikachu exclusive; if playing Let's Go Eevee, you'll need to trade for Arcanine or replace it with another Fire type.
- →
Charmander is given as a gift by a trainer in Cerulean City (north house) — you don't need to choose it at the start.
