About the Random Team Generator
A random Pokémon team generator for any main-series game, Generation I through Generation IX. Filter by type, evolution stage, or trade evolutions to control what comes up, lock the slots you want to keep, and check base stats, catch locations, and team-wide type coverage before committing. When the team's ready, load it straight into the PartyDex builder — no re-typing a roster into another tool.
Useful if you're tired of building the same six Pokémon every playthrough, don't know the dex well enough to pick blind, or want a randomized core for a Nuzlocke run. Pair it with the Nuzlocke tracker to log catches, deaths, and route encounters for a randomized challenge team.
How It Works
- Pick a game — the pool comes from that game's actual dex, not every Pokémon ever.
- Set filters — type, evolution stage, trade evolutions, legendaries.
- Hit Randomize Team, then lock the slots you like and re-roll the rest.
- Click a Pokémon for base stats, catch locations, and a team-wide type coverage breakdown — or Use This Team to load it into the builder.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the random Pokémon team generator free to use?
Yes. It's completely free with no account or login required — pick a game, set filters, and randomize.
Which Pokémon games does the generator support?
All main-series games from Generation I through Generation IX — from Red/Blue/Yellow up through Scarlet/Violet. The team is pulled from that specific game's dex, not a generic pool of every Pokémon ever.
Can I filter the random team by type?
Yes. Select one or more types and every generated Pokémon will match at least one of them. Available types are limited to what actually exists in the generation you picked.
Are legendary and mythical Pokémon included?
Not by default. Turn on “Include legendaries & mythicals” if you want them in the pool.
Can I lock a Pokémon and re-roll the rest of the team?
Yes. Click the lock icon on any slot to keep that Pokémon, then hit Randomize Team or re-roll individual slots — locked Pokémon won't change.
Are trade evolutions included by default?
Yes — Pokémon like Alakazam or Machamp can show up in a generated team. Turn on “Exclude trade evolutions” if you want a team you can fully evolve without trading.
What does the “Extended Pokédex” toggle do?
Off, results are limited to Pokémon newly introduced in that game's generation. On, the pool expands to the game's full available dex, including earlier-generation Pokémon.
Can I actually use the team I generate, or is it just for looking at?
Click “Use This Team” to load the roster straight into the PartyDex builder, where you can check movesets, plan IVs/EVs, and see type coverage — no manually re-adding each Pokémon.
